Algier was born at Nowy Dwor Stud in Poland in 1953.  He was exported to Switzerland at an early age with eight other stallions.  Algier was used in the Circus Knie in Switzerland for several years.  In 1972, he and the other stallions were located by Eric Erlandsson and then shipped to Sweden.  Eric Erlandsson was able to acquire the stallion's registration papers since all the stallions had been branded.

Algier was used in the famous Blommerod Arabstuteri in Sweden where he sired 52 foals, several of which were exported to the U.S.  Some of his outstanding foals include:  (stallions)  Rusazcie (1974); Atlas (1975); Maligg (1977); Bogardt (1978); (mares)  Minerva (1976); and Salamalaika (1976).
